Beau Monde, the original Bread Dip

Beaumonde seasoning is commonly used in bread dip recipes to impart a unique and flavorful blend of savory herbs and spices. It adds depth and complexity to the dip, enhancing its overall taste and making it a standout appetizer option for gatherings and parties. 

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt
  • 2 tsp Dill Salt
  • 1/4 cup minced onion
  • 1 tbsp Beau Monde
  • 1/4 cup dried chipped beef, chopped fine (optional)
  • 2 round loaves of bread Swedish rye and pumpernickel are best.  One of each have the most impressive presentation.

Instructions:

  1. Mix the Dip: In a mixing bowl, combine the mayonnaise, sour cream or yogurt, Dill Salt, minced onion, Beau Monde, and optional chopped dried chipped beef. Stir well to ensure all ingredients are thoroughly combined.

  2. Chill: Cover the dip mixture and chill in the refrigerator for at least one hour to allow the flavors to meld together and intensify.

  3. Prepare the Bread Bowl: Hollow out one of the round loaves of bread to create a bowl for the dip. Cut the center and second loaf of bread into bite-sized pieces for dipping.

  4. Serve: Just before serving, pour the chilled dip mixture into the bread bowl. Arrange the bread pieces around the bowl for easy dipping.
