What is 1% for the Planet?

1% for the Planet is a global organization that connects individuals, businesses, and nonprofits that share a common goal - a healthier planet. Their mission is to engage businesses and individuals to support environmental solutions by committing to donate at least 1% of their annual sales or income to environmental causes.

This means that members of the alliance contribute a minimum of 1% of their sales to NGOs, non-profits, and other eco-friendly organizations to help promote and implement sustainability and conservation projects. The organization was founded in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies, in response to the urgent need to address global environmental issues.

Today, 1% for the Planet has a global network of more than 3,000 businesses and nonprofits in over 60 countries, and they have donated over $250 million to support environmental causes.
