Originally founded as Sumners & Co. in 1798. Richards Briggs inherited the business in 1861. The store was known as an importer and vendor of fine china, glass, and crockeryware. They were located on Washington Street, Boston, MA; however, by the 1920's they had relocated to the fashionable Newbury Street. The company went out of business around 1946.
