A road trip from Annecy France to Milan was held up by a sudden snowstorm at Mount Blanc. We were forced to leave the car where we slid off the road and walk to a small in owned by a retired couple. Seeing how cold we were the wife retreated to the kitchen and prepared us steaming cups of Le Chocolat Chaud. The rich creamy potion had a hint of orange perfect for brightening our moods and warming our tired souls.
INGREDIENTS: Dutch Cocoa, Espresso Powder, Dutch cocoa, cinnamon, nutmeg, & Cane Sugar, Orange Extract (alcohol, water, and orange oil), and vanilla extract (vanilla, water, propylene glycol, and caramel color), fVegetable Oil, Nonfat Dry Milk, ,Glyceryl Lacto Esters Of Fatty Acids, Soy Lecithin, Salt.
Makes 4 small cups / 2 large cups
1 1/2 cups whole milk
1/2 cup heavy cream
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, whisk together the whole milk, heavy cream until small bubbles appear around the edges. Do not allow the mixture to boil. Remove saucepan from the heat and stir in the contents of this bag until melted, returning the sauce to low heat if needed for the chocolate to melt completely. Serve warm, topped with whipped cream.
