Ingredients:

  • 1 package Vanilla MIx (GF Option Available)
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup sour cream or plain yogurt

Frosting:

  • 1 cup butter
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 egg whites
  • ¼ cup all-purpose flour or almond flour
  • 3 tsp Orange Vanilla Sugar
  • 1 lb confectioner's sugar
  • Food coloring (optional)

Instructions:

Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, beat together softened butter, white sugar, and the Orange Vanilla Sugar included in the vanilla mix until light and fluffy.

Add eggs and sour cream: Blend in the eggs one at a time. Stir in the sour cream or yogurt until fully incorporated. Use a bowl scraper as needed to scrape down the sides of the bowl, ensuring all ingredients combine well.

Add vanilla mix: Gradually add the entire package of vanilla mix to the wet ingredients. Use your bowl scraper to fold in the dry ingredients gently, scraping the bowl sides and bottom to fully incorporate without over-mixing.

Chill and shape the dough: Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. For traditional cookies, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour. For roll-and-slice cookies, shape the dough into logs about 2 inches in diameter, then wrap each log tightly in plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until firm. Optionally, freeze wrapped dough logs for up to 3 months for later use.

Preheat oven: Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).

Form cookies:

  • For drop cookies: Drop teaspoonfuls of dough onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet about 2 inches apart, using the bowl scraper to scoop dough easily.
  • For roll-and-slice cookies: If refrigerated, unwrap logs and slice into ½-inch thick pieces with the bowl scraper. If frozen, thaw logs overnight in the refrigerator before slicing. Place slices onto a greased or parchment-lined baking sheet spaced about 2 inches apart.

Bake: Bake 10-12 minutes until edges are lightly golden.

Cool: Remove cookies and cool completely on the baking sheet or wire racks before frosting or serving.

Frosting:

  1. Combine butter , milk, egg whites, flour, Orange Vanilla Sugar, and confectioner’s sugar in a mixing bowl.

  2. Beat on high speed until smooth and creamy, scraping the sides of the bowl with a bowl scraper as needed.

  3. Add optional food coloring.

  4. Frost the flat side of cooled cookies.

Optional Decoration:

  • Add food coloring to the frosting for festive colors.
  • Mix food coloring with sugar for sparkly sprinkles on top of frosted cookies.
