Versatile All Occasion Cookies

Want a special treat this holiday season? Give All Occasion Cookies a try! These sweets are sure to be your child's favorite cookie and activity. Add a few drops of red or green food coloring into the frosting and decorate any way you want. Want to make your cookies sparkle? Mix two drops of desired food coloring with 1/4 cup sugar and sprinkle atop cookies. Have a joyfully delicious holiday.
- 1/2 cup butter or Earth Balance (soy butter)
- 1 1/2 cups white sugar
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup sour cream or plain Yogurt
- 2 tsp Orange Vanilla Sugar
- 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour or 3 1/4 cups Almond Flour
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp baking soda
- Frosting:
- 1 cup butter or Earth Balance (soy butter)
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour or Almond Flour
- 3 tsp Orange Vanilla Sugar
- 1 pound confectioner's sugar
Add green food coloring for St. Patrick's Day (optional) Add a few drops of yellow, green, or red food coloring to make pastel colored frosting for Easter (optional) Beat together butter and sugar. Blend in eggs, Orange Vanilla Sugar and sour cream. Sift together dry ingredients, blend well into the wet ingredients. Place in refrigerator and let chill for at least one hour. Drop teaspoonfuls onto greased baking sheet, and bake in preheated over at 350 f for 10-12 minutes. Remove from baking sheets, and let cool, then frost flat side of cookies. Frosting: Combine shortening, milk, egg whites, flour, , sugar, and optional food coloring. Mix with blender on high, until desired consistency.
